Guide ⛳ How to install a widget

All widgets are StreamElements Custom Widgets — drop-in HTML/CSS/JS overlays you paste into your own overlay editor. No accounts, no installs, no middleman. Works with any streaming software (OBS, Streamlabs, Twitch Studio) that supports browser sources.

  1. Open the StreamElements editor Sign in at streamelements.com → My Overlays. Click New Overlay or open an existing one.
  2. Add a Custom Widget Inside the editor, click the + button (top-left) → choose Static / Custom → Custom Widget. A blank widget appears on your canvas.
  3. Open the widget's code tabs With the custom widget selected, expand the Open Editor panel on the right. You'll see four tabs:

  4. Paste each file into its matching tab After purchase / download you'll get a zip with widget.html, widget.css, widget.js, and widget.fields.json. Copy the contents of each into its matching tab in the editor, then click Done.
  5. Configure & save Open the Settings (gear icon) on the widget — every option from fields.json appears as a friendly form: colors, text templates, sound URLs, milestones, etc. Tweak to taste, hit Save, then add the overlay's URL as a Browser Source in OBS.
Tips & Troubleshooting
  • Alerts not firing? The widget needs to be in an overlay attached to your channel. StreamElements only routes events to overlays under your account.
  • Chat commands not working? Make sure the StreamElements bot is in your chat and you have mod permissions if the widget is mod-only.
  • Test before going live. Use the Emulate button in the StreamElements editor to fire fake followers / subs / cheers and see your alerts react.
